For most of my life, I viewed my mother as overly strict, which created a significant distance between us. Our relationship was fraught with tension, and I often felt misunderstood. However, as she approaches her 90th birthday, I find myself reflecting on our years together and the importance of cherishing the time we have left.
Now that she is considered a "superager," I am determined to make the most of our moments together. I have come to appreciate her unique qualities and the experiences that have shaped her into the person she is today. Each conversation, laugh, and shared memory feels like a precious gift.
As I navigate this new phase of our relationship, I am learning to let go of past grievances and embrace the joy of simply being present. These small moments, once overlooked, have become invaluable. I am grateful for the opportunity to connect with her in a way I never thought possible, and I strive to enjoy every minute we have together.
