Grant Supports Student-Parents at Southeast Kentucky Community & Technical College

Balancing college coursework with parenting responsibilities is no small feat. At Southeast Kentucky Community & Technical College, that challenge is being met with renewed support thanks to a $60,000 planning grant aimed at improving outcomes for student-parents. Southeast is one of five Kentucky institutions awarded a grant through the Kentucky Student Success Collaborative (KYSSC).

The funding will be utilized to develop resources and support systems tailored specifically for students who are also parents. This initiative recognizes the unique challenges faced by student-parents, including time management, financial pressures, and the need for flexible learning environments. By enhancing support services, the college aims to create a more inclusive atmosphere that fosters academic success while accommodating the demands of parenting.

This grant not only highlights the importance of supporting student-parents but also emphasizes the commitment of educational institutions to adapt and respond to the evolving needs of their communities. With this funding, Southeast Kentucky Community & Technical College is taking significant steps toward ensuring that all students can thrive, regardless of their personal circumstances.
