BENNINGTON — United Counseling Service (UCS) has launched MyTime, a free, in-person support group designed specifically for pregnant or parenting women who are affected by substance use. The program is made possible through a grant from the Vermont Department of Health, aiming to address a critical need in the community for accessible, nonjudgmental care.
MyTime offers a safe and confidential space where women can share their experiences, receive emotional support, and connect with resources that can help them navigate the complexities of pregnancy, parenting, and recovery. The group focuses on building resilience, reducing isolation, and promoting healthy outcomes for both mothers and their children. Participants are encouraged to attend regardless of where they are in their journey, whether they are currently using substances, in recovery, or seeking information.
The program recognizes the unique challenges that substance use can pose during pregnancy and early motherhood, including stigma, fear of judgment, and lack of specialized support. By providing a dedicated group environment, MyTime aims to empower women to prioritize their well-being and that of their families. UCS facilitators are trained to offer compassionate guidance and practical strategies for managing stress, building coping skills, and accessing additional services such as counseling, childcare resources, and healthcare referrals.
MyTime sessions are held regularly at UCS locations, and no insurance or referral is required to participate. For more information about meeting times or how to join, interested individuals are encouraged to contact United Counseling Service directly. The program underscores a community-wide commitment to supporting vulnerable families and breaking down barriers to recovery and stability.
