Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor recently opened up about his approach to parenting, and his core rule is refreshingly straightforward. In a new interview, the father of two revealed that he does not believe in overprotecting his children, especially during physical activities. His philosophy centers on letting kids experience minor falls and scrapes as part of learning.
Kapoor explained that when his children go for gymnastics, he refuses to let them wear helmets or excessive padding. He argued that such gear gives a false sense of security and prevents children from understanding the natural consequences of their movements. "My fundamental of parenting is that when you send your kids for gymnastics, they have all these little protections so that if they fall, they don't hurt," he said. "But I think they need to fall and feel that little sting. That is how they learn to balance."
The actor, who shares son Zain and daughter Misha with wife Mira Rajput, emphasized that this rule is not about neglect but about building resilience. He believes that shielding kids from every minor injury robs them of the chance to develop caution and body awareness. Kapoor added that he applies the same logic to other activities, preferring to let his children explore their limits rather than bubble-wrapping them.
Fans have praised the actor for his grounded and practical take on modern parenting. While some might see it as risky, Kapoor insists that a few bumps and bruises are a small price to pay for raising confident, self-aware kids.
