Taiwanese American artist Wilber Lio has a knack for turning the chaos of raising kids into something you can laugh at instead of cry over. Through his ongoing project "What's Wilber Wondering," he takes random observations, awkward self-awareness, pop culture references, and the constant overthinking that comes with adulthood and turns them into comics that feel both weirdly specific and oddly universal.
One strip might focus on the tiny emotional disasters of parenting, like trying to get a toddler dressed or the silent judgment you get from your own child when you eat a snack without sharing. Another comic takes a passing thought and turns it into a perfectly timed visual punchline that makes you wonder why your brain works the exact same way.
Lio's style is simple but effective. He doesn't overcomplicate the drawings because he doesn't have to. The humor comes from the truth of the situation. Parents know the exhaustion, the guilt, the joy, and the absurdity. His comics remind you that you are not alone in feeling like you are barely holding it together.
The artist recently shared a new batch of 25 comics that continue this theme. They cover everything from the struggle of finding five minutes of peace to the strange pride you feel when your kid finally learns to do something you have been teaching them for weeks. Some strips are purely about parenting. Others branch out into the general frustrations of being an adult with responsibilities.
What makes Lio's work stand out is how he finds the light in the frustration. He does not sugarcoat the hard parts. He just frames them in a way that makes you laugh instead of spiral. That is a rare skill. His comics have built a loyal following because they feel like a conversation with a friend who gets it.
If you have ever felt like your brain is running a million thoughts at once while your kid asks you the same question for the tenth time, these comics will hit home. They are a reminder that the chaos is normal. And sometimes, the best thing you can do is laugh at it.
